Critical Care Nutrition at the Clinical Evaluation Research Unit (CERU)

We, the Clinical Evaluation Research Unit based at the Kingston General Hospital, are an academic research organization that provides expertise in research and quality improvement initiatives in acute care medicine.

SodiUm SeleniTe Administration IN Cardiac Surgery (SUSTAIN CSX®-trial). A pilot randomized controlled trial of high dose sodium-selenite administration in high risk cardiac surgical patients.

The SUSTAIN CSX represents collaboration between CERU, the Clinical Trial Centre- Aachen and an industry partner Biosyn Arzneimittel GmbH to investigate the effects of high dose sodium-selenite on high risk cardiac surgical patients. Subjects will be recruited in Canada, and Germany.
